PalmID Agent 1.1

The PalmID Agent serves as a mobile client for the PalmID(R) Identity Provider (IDP), developed and maintained by Redrock Biometrics. Its design aligns with the OpenID Connect protocol, a widely adopted standard for social media sign-in services such as Facebook or Google. On websites configured to recognize PalmID IDP as a trusted identity provider, users can select the option to sign in with PalmID. This action redirects them to the PalmID IDP sign-in interface, where authentication occurs via the PalmID Agent application, after which users gain access to the original site through a trust relationship.

The authentication process within the PalmID Agent involves two primary steps: scanning a QR code and biometric palm verification. The biometric mechanism leverages the unique patterns of lines and creases on the surface of the palm, which are highly distinctive—even among identical twins—making them notably difficult to distinguish using facial biometrics. PalmID incorporates advanced spoofing detection algorithms to prevent fraud; it effectively resists presentation attacks such as still images or videos.
